File managers for Android

There are a plethora of file managers for Android on Google play store, which makes choosing very difficult. While most of them perform the basic tasks some of them have more to offer. So we will try to make things easier by discussing some of the popular and free file managers.
Files Go by Google
Files go is not exactly a file manager but more of a cleaning tool. On the first page itself(storage tab) it gives suggestions to delete temporary files, low-resolution media, downloaded files, social media files and large files that take up large space. On the next tab (Files tab) we see various categories of files and below which there is also an option to send and receive files by hotspot and Wi-Fi of the device. I seriously don’t see any practical use as a file manager but as a file cleaner who has a lot of junk from the WhatsApp will have a good use out of this.

Mi File Explorer by Xiaomi
On the first window itself, we are greeted with the recent tab where we can access all the thing stored recently which is handy. Next is the categories tab which makes things easy to access. And the last tab is the traditional folders view with all the regular sort options. The search bar on the top is a nice touch. There is also a handy button for storage breakup which then can lead to the clean-up option. There is also a shortcut button for Mi Drop and it also includes FTP. The great thing about this file manager is the simplicity and the elegant design.

This is a very vast file manager. The first window we see is the storages and option to analyze them. The analyzer is the best feature where we get a breakup of the storage in the form of categories of files, folders associated to different apps, recent files, junk files, large files, redundant files and even duplicate files. The best feature of the analyzer is that there is an option to see the folders according to size which makes it easy to find the space-occupying culprits. The file options are even wonderful like the option to encrypt, decrypt, and rename multiple files with numbers and even rename the extension of multiple files simultaneously. And the greatest thing is that this is the only file manager to support external hard drive support (NTFS format) even if it means only reading that makes a lot of difference

So concluding if daily basic usage i.e. copy, cut, paste and rename and basic cleaning is the objective go with Explorer by Xiaomi. The simple and elegant design makes it smooth and a delight to use.

Then if you are a heavy user who uses hard-disk, needs a thorough cleaning of the device, wants to keep track of every file and byte of space occupied of your device; go with ES File Explorer. Of course, the user interface is not the best and the plethora of features can be overwhelming for someone but it does more than most of the file managers
