OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 7 Pro and it is truly a pro. Let's take a look as to what makes it a pro.
Firstly the display upgrade is huge with the resolution of 1440p making the pixel density of 516ppi and a refresh rate of 90Hz the screen is sharp and smooth as an AMOLED can get. OnePlus is calling it a Fluid AMOLED. The display is 6.67" curved in the edges supporting HDR 10+, sRGB, no notches, no holes, just edge to edge screen. It is as pro as it can get.
The next upgrade is the camera 48 MP main IMX586 sensor with OIS, 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and 16 MP wide angle lens. The front camera is Sony IMX471 16 MP shooter hidden in the pop-up style to have an all screen experience. The video capabilities are the same as the last generation 4k 60fps max and slow motion at 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps. With the pop-up style, camera scepticism comes in the form of fragile nature and longevity of the module. To address this OnePlus has tested the mechanism for 300,000 times which means an average of 150 times daily actuation for 5.5 years. A video showing a 22.3Kg of weight suspended from the camera module was shown to address the strength. And for additional security, a software feature is added so that when the phone detects a fall the camera will go inside immediately.
The phone also has a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos. The phone is waterproof but without an IP certification as it increases the cost and is not particularly covered under warranty. The battery is now 4000mAh with 30Watt Warp charging technology to charge about 50% in 20 minutes.
The maximum RAM option is now 12 GB and the storage technology is UFS 3.0 first in a production phone. Paired with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor this will make the experience even snappier. The fingerprint sensor has gotten bigger and faster, there is the Fnatic mode for gamers.
It will be available on Amazon and OnePlus site on 16 May for prime users and 17 May for everyone at 12 PM.
